Oh em gee!! I think I’ve made it pretty clear how much I love Revolve. The classes, the instructors, the studio — it doesn’t get much better than this. Seriously, going to a gym that has it’s ish together makes everything about exercise better.

When I found out Revolve was offering a cross-cycle challenge, I knew I needed to be there. Lucky for me, they wanted me to attend too! I didn’t even know exactly what cross-cycling entailed but I was 98% sure I wouldn’t hate it.

The challenge entailed an hour of bootcamp and then a 45 minute cycling class. We had about a half hour in between the two to mingle and relax our muscles for a bit. Both were taught by Grant Hill and he was fantastic.

I’ve done bootcamp classes in the past, but never one that was outside. We headed over to a park about a block away from the studio. It was so hot and humid that day, pretty much the norm for DC summers.

Our time was spent doing burpees, push-ups, curl-ups, suicides, kettle balls, squats, mountain climbers, and running. And that’s not even everything. I may have openly weeped at one point but out of happiness, I promise.

The walk back to the studio was a sweaty one. And that was just the beginning of this fabulous sweat fest.

The cycling aspect was a Real Ride. Grant had an awesome music selection going on so I spent my time singing along and jamming out to distract myself from the glorious pain of the intervals.

I’ve been making it a point to do a lot of cross-training lately. Especially since I’m getting back into the swing of things with cardio — I don’t want to re-injure myself. When I saw this quote by Kira Stokes (a master instructor at Revolve’s NYC location), I realized that they seriously get it when it comes to the importance of cross-training.

I honestly can’t wait to see what sort of challenge Revolve will offer next. I have no doubt it will be as fabulous as this one. And I hope they make the cross-cycle challenge a regular offering so we can all go and do it together.
