Thanks for hosting, Jenn!
Chris and I had an impromptu date night over the weekend.
I think part of it may have been influenced by the judgmental look Penelope was giving us for staying in on a Friday night.
After my long run on Saturday, I came home and asked him if we could go on a date. He said, “sure.” And so there we were.
Married life can be so exciting sometimes, you guys.
This is my first time participating in a “What I Ate Wednesday” post. Usually I don’t because I think they give off a false view of what I actually eat. And honestly, I don’t find my food posts for an entire day to be blog-worthy. A food truck meal? Yes. But, that’s only one meal … not an entire day of eats. Damn, now I am going to have to do a WIAW of an entire day of food truck eating. Aw shucks! Hehe. BUT really.
Anyways! So Chris let me pick the restaurant and unless I’m craving a specific meal at a specific place I opt for something new (or new to us). Saturday night’s choice — Passion Fish.
Neither of us looked at the menu before we made our reservation. And that didn’t change before we walked through the door. It was a lot of fun to actual go in blind. I mean, I kind of knew the dishes would seafood because even I can sometimes put two and two together.
We sat down, ordered drinks, and looked over the menu.
I decided to start with the “Captain Crunch Roll.”
It was the only fully cooked sushi roll on the menu so I was hoping that maybe Chris would split it with me.
He took a bite (with a fork) and decided yet again that sushi will never be for him.
Don’t worry, folks. I will encourage him to keep trying to find one he likes. In the meantime, more sushi for me! Hooray!
After I licked the plate clean of sushi, I waited for my entree. Award winning jumbo lump crab cakes.
I may have actually said “I love you” to my plate after my first bite. And by may, I mean I actually did.
Seriously – those babies were so good and meaty. The sauce brought it all home and happily into my tummy. I don’t think I could’ve made a better menu choice.
We had such a great time at Passion Fish. Our waiter was awesome – he made great recommendations, wasn’t pushy, and had his timing down. I really can’t wait to go back!
